VIRTUAL ONLINE GUIDED TOURS

Our virtual tours run regularly and are useful to attend if you cannot visit the site in person, or if you’d like to visit during our close-season, between October and April (when we do not recommend visits to site, as the area is very open and exposed and any visit can be an uncomfortable experience!). we also conduct online tours of the Westmill Wind Farm and Solar Park.

So, no matter where in the world you are and no matter how far away you may be, you always have an opportunity to join us to learn about our clean, green community energy!

These online guided tours are presented by one of our experienced, knowledgeable guides and offer an informative and engaging peek behind the scenes at Westmill.

If you are a Large Group and would like to take a virtual tour, please contact us to discuss possible bespoke options.

If you are an Individual, or part of a Small Group, then please view available dates and book via our Eventbrite page.

ON-SITE TOURS

Large Groups

If you are a group, such as a school, a college, a society, an association, or similar, then we can arrange a tailor-made visit to the Westmill site.

Applications can be made at any time, however we encourage site visits to be made during British Summer Time; from the end of March to the end of October, when weather conditions at the site are a little more favourable during these warmer months. We actively discourage any site visits outside this time as dangerous weather hazards can prevent tours from operating effectively or at all.

All Large Group tours are subject to volunteer guide availability. Visits made by very large groups (40+) may be partly self-guided.

Please complete our Visit Request Form and once we receive your application we will contact you to arrange the next steps.

NB: Do note that – due to the ever-present possibility of new and returning COVID-19 restrictions – all visit requests are subject to ongoing review on a case-by-case basis, and/or maybe postponed/cancelled at short notice.

Individuals/Small Groups

We encourage individuals, families and small groups to arrange to join us on one of our special public on-site tour days to the Westmill site.

These days take place regularly during the warmer months of the year from April to October, when weather conditions at the site are a little more favourable.

Dates for our public on-site tour days can be viewed and booked via our Eventbrite page.

NB: Do note that – due to the ever-present possibility of new and returning COVID-19 restrictions – our public on-site tour days may be postponed/cancelled at short notice.

NEED-TO-KNOWS

Booking for site visits must be made, in advance, as our volunteer guides will only be on site at Westmill when visitors are expected.

The location of the Westmill Wind Farm & Solar Park can be found here.

All our visits are led by trained volunteers who give freely of their time. With this in mind, we appreciate donations to our charity to enable us to continue our work and encourage sustainable energy creation and use. Donations can be made via our official charity Donation Page. If you would prefer to donate another way then please let us know.

Virtual tours usually last between 30 and 60 minutes. On-site tours normally last between 40 and 90 minutes.

Our friendly and knowledgeable guide volunteers provide a unique insight into the history and operation of the Westmill site. However, if you would like a more in-depth understanding about our work in the sustainable energy field, we can arrange a talk to be given to you and your group. Please contact us for further information.

If you have any questions about visits and tours then please contact us.
