VIRTUAL ONLINE GUIDED TOURS

Our virtual tours run regularly all year-round and are useful to attend if you cannot visit the site in person, or if you’d like to visit during our close-season, between October and April (when we do not recommend visits to site, as the area is very open and exposed and any visit can be an uncomfortable experience!)

These online guided tours are led by one of our experienced, knowledgeable guides and offer an informative and engaging peek behind the scenes at Westmill.

Dates for these virtual guided tours can be viewed and booked via our Eventbrite page.

If you are a Large Group and would like to take a virtual tour, please contact us to discuss possible bespoke options.

ON-SITE TOURS

Large Groups

If you are a group, such as a school, a college, a society, an association, or similar, then we can arrange a tailor-made visit to the Westmill site.

Applications can be made at any time, however we strongly advise that you request a visit to take place during the warmer months of the year from April to October, when weather conditions at the site are a little more favourable.

Complete our Visit Request Form and we’ll be in touch.

NB: Due to existing COVID-19 restrictions in 2021 – group visits to site are currently suspended until the 17th May, when we will review our visit policy in line with the forthcoming announcement from the Government on potential easing of such restrictions. However, we are taking bookings now – so please do follow the booking procedure and your visit request will be provisionally held. Do note that all visit requests are subject to ongoing review on a case-by-case basis, and/or maybe postponed/cancelled at short notice.

Individuals/Small Groups

We encourage individuals, families and small groups to arrange to join us on one of our special public on-site tour days to the Westmill site.

These days take place regularly during the warmer months of the year from April to October, when weather conditions at the site are a little more favourable.

The public on-site tour days usually occur once a month and can be viewed and booked via our Eventbrite page.

NB: Due to existing COVID-19 restrictions in 2021 – our public on-site tour days are currently suspended until the 17th May, when we will review our visit policy in line with the forthcoming announcement from the Government on potential easing of such restrictions. Do note that, in the current climate, public on-site tour days may be postponed/cancelled at short notice. Please check our EventBrite page and/or our social media channels regularly to see when these may become available.

NEED-TO-KNOWS

Booking for site visits must be made, in advance, as our volunteer guides will only be on site at Westmill when visitors are expected.

The location of the Westmill Wind Farm & Solar Park can be found here.

All our visits are led by trained volunteers who give freely of their time. With this in mind, we appreciate donations to our charity to enable us to continue our work and encourage sustainable energy creation and use. Donations can be made via our official charity Donation Page. If you would prefer to donate another way then please let us know.

Virtual tours usually last between 30 and 60 minutes. On-site tours normally last between 40 and 90 minutes.

Our friendly and knowledgeable guide volunteers provide a unique insight into the history and operation of the Westmill site. However, if you would like a more in-depth understanding about our work in the sustainable energy field, we can arrange a talk to be given to you and your group. Please contact us for further information.

If you have any questions about visits and tours then please contact us.
